Seedy Saturday!
Earthwise Society’s Seedy Saturday event is back this year on March 21, from 10 AM to 1 PM in the Red Barn at Southlands. Whether you’re an avid gardener or just starting out, this is a great chance to connect with your community, exchange seeds, and share gardening tips. Bring your extra seeds and swap with fellow garden enthusiasts, join a guided tour of the beautiful Earthwise Garden, and get your questions answered by a Master Gardener!
We’ll also be offering a Seed Starting 101 Workshop at Seedy Saturday as part of our Ready, Set, Grow! 4-part organic gardening series. The workshop is $20, or you can register for the full 4-part series for $50. Advance registration is strongly recommended, as space is limited! Sign up HERE.
If you’d like to participate in the seed swap, here are some helpful tips:
-
Bring Seeds – Bring open-pollinated, heirloom, or organic seeds if possible. No invasive species, please! Whether you have a few seeds or hundreds to share, anything is welcome and appreciated!
-
Label Clearly – If you have saved the seeds yourself, be sure to include the plant name, variety, year, and any special growing tips on the package.
-
Envelopes Provided – Small seed envelopes will be available for sharing and taking seeds, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer! You do not need to pre-pack seeds into individual packs in advance (unless you would like to).
-
Take Seeds and Be Considerate – You do not have to bring seeds to take some, but sharing is encouraged! Take only what you need so everyone gets a chance to participate!
Entry to this event is by donation, and proceeds will support Earthwise Society’s programs. We look forward to seeing you there!
