Regenerative Farming Workshop Series at Earthwise Agassiz
Join us at Earthwise Agassiz for hands-on learning, community connection, and practical regenerative farming skills! Each workshop wraps up with freshly made cob oven pizza and a chance to connect. The cost for this series is $40/session or attend all three for $100. If you take part in our Regenerative Farming Volunteer Certificate Program, this workshop series is free. REGISTER HERE!
🔥 BIOCHAR WORKSHOP | May 23 | 9 am – 12 pm
Biochar is a form of charcoal made by heating organic material in a low-oxygen environment, a process called pyrolysis. When added to soil, it improves structure, increases water retention, and provides habitat for beneficial microorganisms. Biochar can lock carbon into the soil for hundreds to thousands of years, making it a powerful tool for climate resilience. It also helps retain nutrients, reducing the need for external inputs. By integrating biochar into gardens and farms, growers can build healthier soils, increase productivity, and reduce environmental impact. This ancient practice is being rediscovered as a key solution for sustainable and regenerative agriculture today.
🌿 HOT COMPOSTING WORKSHOP | June 6 | 9 am – 12 pm
Healthy soil is the foundation of all food systems. By learning how to build and manage hot compost, you can transform food scraps and organic waste into nutrient-rich soil amendments in a matter of weeks. This process reduces food waste, lowers methane emissions from landfills, and returns vital nutrients back to the soil. Compost improves soil structure, increases water retention, and supports beneficial microbial life essential for plant growth. Developing strong composting systems at home or on farms builds self-sufficiency, reduces reliance on external inputs, and closes the loop in local food systems, creating a more resilient and regenerative way to grow food.
🌾 REGENERATIVE FARMING SKILLS WORKSHOP | June 20 | 9 am – 12 pm
Regenerative farming focuses on working with natural systems to grow healthy, nutrient-dense food while restoring the land. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn essential skills including soil preparation, bed making, planting, seed sowing, weed management, and seed saving. These practices help build soil fertility, increase biodiversity, and improve long-term productivity without relying on synthetic inputs. By understanding natural cycles and ecosystem relationships, growers can create more resilient and self-sustaining food systems. Whether you’re new to growing or looking to deepen your knowledge, these foundational skills empower you to produce food in a way that supports both people and the planet.
