Seedy Saturday

Seedy Saturday!

Earthwise Society is hosting a Seedy Saturday event on March 22, from 10 AM to 2 PM in the Red Barn at Southlands. Whether you’re an avid gardener or just starting out, this is a great chance to connect with your community, exchange seeds, and share gardening tips. Bring your extra seeds and swap with fellow garden enthusiasts, or simply come to learn something new. We’ll have a variety of workshops throughout the day, and some fun, seedy refreshments to enjoy. Plus, come with all your gardening questions, because we will have a Master Gardener on hand to answer them! It’s the perfect event to kick off the gardening season. If you’d like to get involved, email outreach@earthwisesociety.bc.ca.

If you’d like to participate in the seed swap, here are some helpful tips:

  1. Bring Seeds – Bring open-pollinated, heirloom, or organic seeds if possible. No invasive species, please! Whether you have a few seeds or hundreds to share, anything is welcome and appreciated!

  2. Label Clearly – If you have saved the seeds yourself, be sure to include the plant name, variety, year, and any special growing tips on the package.

  3. Envelopes Provided – Small seed envelopes will be available for sharing and taking seeds, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer! You do not need to pre-pack seeds into individual packs in advance (unless you would like to).

  4. Take Seeds and Be Considerate – You do not have to bring seeds to take some, but sharing is encouraged! Take only what you need so everyone gets a chance to participate!

Entry to this event is by donation, and proceeds will support Earthwise Society’s programs. We look forward to seeing you there!
